Publisher Description

INTRODUCTION Theory defines a scientific discipline, yet the supply chain management discipline has largely failed to develop its own theoretical bases. (1) Instead, we have integrated theories that have been developed within other disciplines such as economics (e.g., transaction cost economics) and the broadly denned management discipline (e.g., the resource-based view), and used these theories to develop and test empirical models. And, like our counterparts in management, we too have "borrowed" theory from other scientific disciplines such as psychology and sociology.
