Publisher Description

This book described the story of the people and organisation that was created early in world war II to bring newly created aircraft from the United States and Canada across the Atlantic into the European and African theatres to support the Allies.

It begins with the new Atlantic Ferry organisation putting out a call to all commercial pilots and navigators to volunteer for service while the RAF is already busy in the Battle of Britain. This later becomes the RAF Ferry Command.

Enormous effort was expended by many brave pilots to fly long and dangerous journeys with equal efforts by the engineers required to build airways, support services across America, South America and Africa to get the services the equipment needed for the North African and European campaigns.
