In the breathtaking yet unforgiving mountains of Colorado, danger doesn't always come from the snow.

When a routine avalanche mitigation turns deadly, the victim is identified as Todd Radford, a man with ties that hit far too close to home for Sheriff Sam Winslow as Todd is the ex-husband of Sam's former girlfriend, Millie. As suspicion mounts, circumstantial evidence begins to paint a damning picture of Sam as the killer. With no solid alibi and pressure from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation closing in, Sam is arrested and stripped of his badge.
