Publisher Description

A discreet Enter Here sign hung on the railing of the weathered wooden gate that stood open, a cavity in a thicket of tall, closely planted Florida pines. The silver Jaguar turned in and followed the gravel road that ran between a double row of royal palms until it reached a paved parking lot. The lot was nearly filled with expensive, late model automobiles--Pontiac station wagons with varnished wooden side panels, roomy Lincoln Continentals, long Cadillac Coupe DeVilles, a racy red Thunderbird convertible with a decorative front plate that read "Sporty Forty," and several big, square Mercedes sedans. Almost every vehicle sported at least one bumper sticker, many of which were slapped alongside various leftover slogans touting "Nixon for President"--messages like "America, Love It or Leave It," "Will the Last American Leaving Miami Please Bring the Flag," and "Se habla English." The ubiquitous slogan on the station wagons was "My Child Made the Honor Roll at Coral Grove Elementary School."
