Crossing the Line

Chase Barrett is my best friend. He's also a professional hockey player with a filthy reputation, an aversion to commitment, and enough charm to make women forget he's a world-class pain in the ass.
Fortunately, I've always been immune.
Mostly.
So when my chance to give the keynote in Vegas comes up, asking him to join me is the most natural thing in the world. Chase and me, a few days in Sin City … harmless fun.
Then one drunken joke about how easy it is to get married in Vegas turns into something neither of us remembers doing.
The kissing comes later.
So does the sex.
Finding out we're actually husband and wife? That takes a little longer.
We could panic. We could get an annulment. Instead, we decide to ignore the marriage for a while and enjoy the benefits. After all, we're still Chase and Cassie. Best friends. Nothing has to change.
Except Chase doesn't seem interested in pretending nothing has changed.
And the harder I fight to put us back on our respective sides of the line, the more I have to wonder whether crossing it was really a mistake at all.
