Publisher Description
"Damaged reminded me of the best of Robin Cook: lightning paced, innovative, topical…and most of all, frightening. Part medical mystery, part bloody thriller, here is a debut that had me flipping pages until the wee hours of the morning."
—James Rollins, #1 New York Times bestselling author
In the cool grey dawn of a spring morning, a lonely teen is found brutally murdered—becoming the first known victim of The Body Butcher.
With no trace evidence and the discovery that the teen is the daughter of a criminal court judge, lawyer Kate Lange is haunted by the knowledge that her legal advice might have led to the girl’s death.
Put on notice by Randall Barrett, the firm's charismatic managing partner, Kate must fight for her career, her reputation—and for redemption. Unwilling to live with the damage she may have caused, Kate pursues the case on her own and unearths some chilling facts.
Facts that lead straight to the heart of a legal conspiracy.
Facts that lead Kate directly into the surgically skilled hands of The Body Butcher.
She wanted redemption.
Instead, she found a killer.

Damaged
I really loved the confidence of Kate Lange and how she wasn’t just sitting around waiting for the police to solve the mystery. She risked her career and her life to find the evidence herself which is something I truly admire. I think Kate is a very strong person as she survived all that. But I hated how everyone kept on accusing her but I bet it hearted the most when Ethan accused her out of all the people. In my opinion Ethan should’ve given her time to tell him about her tragic past herself. If I was on her shoes I would’ve been definitely scared to tell anyone about it especially the person I love because I will be afraid to lose them. And when Ethan realised he was wrong it was too late to go back. And I didn’t really like Ethan that much at all because he was always looking at Kate as if she was a suspect and definitely hated him when he doubted Hope as the suspect of Lisa her daughter. Like she was her mother
even if she didn’t cry when Lisa died that doesn’t mean she’s the murderer. I felt really sorry for Lisa as well. She’s just a 15 years old kid who wasn’t loved by her parents which caused her to use drugs at such a young age and ended being a victim. But something that shocked me the most was the traitor, he was right next to Kate all along and she didn’t even realise it. I would’ve never had a clue about the traitor considering his career and his character at the start of the book. Overall I really enjoyed the book but it was a bit hard for me to understand the science stuff. I would highly recommend this book to someone who’s interested in crime and thriller.
