Facing the Fire

Being different and being special are not the same thing. This is something Calliope knows better than anyone. Always the new kid in school, far shorter than any of her classmates and cursed with pale skin and orange hair, she is always on the run from bullies. As the summer approaches, and with it her eleventh birthday, she hopes that she can at least have a couple of months of freedom. But her summer becomes something much stranger as she is shipped off to the middle of nowhere, to a small town that is not what it seems and an aunt who is far more than just an old lady.
