When the going gets tough, Royal turns to his best friend, Jock Algren, whose ruthlessly applied justice provides counterpoint to Royal's relaxed Florida lifestyle and good-natured banter with Duncan. Despite the unwieldy plot, Griffin's fans should be pleased.
