Hahn takes her time setting the stage, which makes for a slow start, but the backstory will put country fans in mind of the band the Chicks. Now, however, Lorelai's ready to reclaim her place in the spotlight with the help of her longtime friend, indie music producer Craig Boseman. Neither can forget the one magical night they shared following the scandal, but they're determined to keep their relationship friendly and professional. Unsurprisingly, their resolve doesn't last long. Soon the pair are writing each other erotic poems and all-out love songs, the text of which adds some fun to the proceedings. Hahn surrounds her protagonists with diverse friends and family who act as confidants and cheerleaders for the couple, adding some flair to what would otherwise be a straightforward comeback story. Those most familiar with the country scene and its artists will especially appreciate how deeply the music and culture is woven into the plot.
