Publisher Description
abstract Many studies have been done on the effects of high-voltage transmission lines on property values; however, the research results have been mixed. This study looks more deeply into the findings of one such study to see if the findings hold up under greater statistical scrutiny. While the confirmation of prior research results is interesting, equally important are the methods used to confirm or refute the prior results. This demonstrates the importance of asking, "When faced with insignificant statistical results, is the insignificance believable, or is the lack of significance merely due to unrecognized and uncontrolled aspects of the data?" This paper addresses these important analytical questions.
