In the early 1930's, Bishop Eli Nisly of Hutchinson, Kansas was facing a dilemma. His goal of providing farms for each of his children was being jeopardized by the high price and scarcity of land suitable for farming. A new settlement was formed in Nowata, Oklahoma. Unfortunately, times became hard. Terrible drought brought on the Dust Bowl. Would the colony survive following Grandpa's passing in 1941 Elsie Nisly Bliler, granddaughter of Bishop Nisly, has compiled Keeping The Faith, a 2008 collection of heartfelt short stories spanning seventy-five years and six generations of the Eli Nisly family. From the five-day horse-and-buggy Nowata trek to missions throughout the Americas and Africa, family members of each of Bishop Nisly's children relate the lasting effects that their Amish upbringing and heritage have had on their lives and their faith through 45 stories and 235 photos. - 360 pages -
