Laura
The film holds classic status and this one of the times when, if you are a fan, it might be best to settle for the celluloid telling. The book hasn’t worn as well as the works of Chandler or Cain. The villain is painted in gaudy cardboard, the heroine vapid, the investigator a dull dog indeed. Of its time and out of time.
