The year is 1348. The Black Death ravages Europe, transforming idyllic pastures into mass graves and flourishing cities into putrid wastelands. Amid the terror of this new landscape, a lively and intelligent twelve-year-old orphan named Finas serves as the conscripted caretaker of a dying Alsatian village.
