Publisher Description
“The Zoo Story” is focused on a conversation between Peter and Jerry. Peter is a middle class publishing executive, and Jerry is an eccentric transient.
Peter and Jerry talk cordially in Central Park. However, as the conversation progresses, it slowly descends into violence.
Edward Albee admitted during an interview in 2011 that he was personally more interested in Jerry’s perspectives than Peter’s. He said that that was the reason for structuring the play around Peter’s reactions to Jerry’s strange behavior.
