Publisher Description

In his book, Niall Breslin speaks openly about living with depression and anxiety, and his crippling journey to finally acknowledging 'Jeffrey' - the name he chose for it - years after he took the decision to conceal his growing mental health issues from the world, at age 15.
Told with raw honesty, it is a story of the demons that lay beneath outward success, and how they impacted on his career in sports and later music, as he coped with a condition that at times seemed hell bent on wrecking everything in its wake. It is also the story of a road to reconciliation with brokenness - beginning after a massive panic attack before a live TV appearance in 2012 - leading to brighter horizons.
Me and My Mate Jeffrey is an essential book for anyone who knows what it is to feel alone, and who doesn't know how to ask for help - or anyone who wants to better understand that journey.

Great read

Very good book could not but it down.

Inspiring Read ,

Me and My Mate Jeffrey

An extremely open and honest personal story of Bressie's battle with anxiety disorder. What is inspiring throughout his story is his ability to engage with the reader with such honesty and humility. As he conveyed throughout his book, mental illness has been such a taboo topic in this country. Hopefully times are a changing! Couldn't recommend this book enough from teenagers onwards.

Honest and uplifting

After having gone through a similar experience, and made it through because you do make it, this book resonated a lot with me.

His honesty, bravery and detail in recounting the facts and the history of his illness must have been incredibly difficult as it's often very difficult as a sufferer to look back upon what you went through - it's bad memories essentially. However it's often part of therapy to do it and to realise that there is nothing to be scared of in the past and that memories are just memories and these uncomfortable things make us stronger.

The most important part of this story was the idea that something like anxiety can in fact make you a stronger more resilient person than someone without it. It essentially forces you to look into yourself and ask yourself what you're doing to be happy today. Without it you might tend to live a mundane, somewhat boring existence.

All in all, well worth a read.
