Publisher Description
Jane Austin was born on December 16, 1775, in Steventon, Hampshire, England. She was author of the Georgian era. During her life, she wasn’t widely known. Her novels became popular after 1869 and she became very famous in the twentieth century. The most famous of all her novels are “Pride and Prejudice”, “Emma” and “Sense and Sensibility”.
Her novels were about romance, love, family, relationships. They are filled with ordinary people, presenting their ordinary lives, ordinary places and events, which was the contrary of the novels of her time. Through the characters of her stories and their lives, she succeeded to bridge the gap between romance and social realism.
This book is the biography of one of the most famous female novelists, Jane Austin. It is written by her nephew James Edward Austen-Leigh, who together with his family and Austin’s relative had collected most of the information and the details about her life.
In this book Austen-Leigh describes his aunt Jane as the woman she really was. He describes her as a woman who wasn’t interested in fame, and who wrote only to fill her free time.
Although this book presents Austin’s biography, it is not a book which reveals information about her personal life. But on the contrary, it gives information about her public life and presents the readers with the Austin’s works.
