Nido Is Nest: A Place for Gestation

With the intention to generate systems of cultural exchange, dialogue and to affect social change, this anthology is an offering to the reader in the form of a twig, a string, perhaps a fallen feather, for each to use in constructing their own nido or making place. This anthology observes the materials used, equipment employed and pedagogical frameworks implemented in nest making. The collection is meant to draw together a few of the many questions that teaching artists churn in regards to place making. Examples from several countries and continents represent our current cultural and geopolitical landscape, with each project touching upon particular relationships, connections and even reliance that all living things share with one another. Particular attention is given to young people as well as roles that artists have played in connecting individuals and groups in creating places for gestation.
