When chemistry graduate student Luka Petrović watches an impossible crystal bloom to life in his Zurich lab — a structure that sings, breathes, and responds to his touch before shattering into dust — he assumes it's an anomaly. His grandfather Ivan knows better. Within hours, Luka is fleeing Zurich with a warning echoing in his ears: a dangerous alchemical organization called Lux Sangria has been watching him, and they will come for him.

Luka soon discovers that he has inherited a rare alchemical sensitivity that makes him uniquely capable of finding and bonding with the Cor Vitae — a legendary crystalline artifact described in Tesla's encrypted journals as the heart of planetary consciousness. His grandfather, now a captive of Lux Sangria's charismatic and ruthless leader Alphonse Fischer, is being used as bait. Fischer's plan is chilling in its logic: reduce the world's population to 1950 levels, eliminate the billions he considers unsustainable, and rebuild civilization under a single technocratic authority empowered by alchemical magic. To do it, he needs to pass through an ancient threshold called the Door. And to do that, he needs Luka.

Guided by a trail of clues deliberately hidden across Strasbourg and Paris by Tesla himself — encoded in a secret notebook, a resonant astrolabe, and the hidden architecture of the Paris Opera House — Luka races to find the Cor Vitae before Fischer can seize it. Alongside him is Jayla Reddy, a director of the ancient Adventure Club of Europe, whose own alchemical abilities and deep knowledge of Tesla's legacy make her both indispensable and compelling. Behind them, Fischer closes in with a small army of followers, a kidnapped grandfather, and a spy embedded in Luka's own circle.
