Nothing More Than Murder
A classic piece of Jim Thompson. Losers and near-losers, iron men and cardboard women, set in the cutthroat world of the small town cinema exhibitors. Twists and turns through double and treble crosses to an ending that can be predicted from two thirds in. Yet you get invested in the despicable and desperate protagonist, almost wishing him to escape his cage. Almost.
