E. T. A. Hoffmann was a German Romantic author of fantasy and horror, composer, music critic, draftsman and caricaturist, who is considered as one of the major authors of the Romantic movement.  His stories were very influential during the 19th century, and nowadays they have became the base for popular operas, ballets, theatre actions and movies.

“The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” is a fairy tale written in 1816. The Stahlbaum children are given a toy nutcracker for Christmas from their godfather Drosselmeier. But this Nutcracker is more than he seems; he's really Drosselmeier's nephew transformed by a mouse queen's evil curse. With the help of young Marie Stahlbaum, the Nutcracker is eventually able to overcome his foe. But could Nutcracker regain his human form?
