Publisher Description

Press 9 For Pig Latin is a moving and humorous story collection on mental health issues, infidelity, addiction and garden-variety heartbreak. When life hits hard, characters must figure out how to hit back, turn the other cheek, or dodge the punches and run.

In this contemporary fiction collection, characters find themselves in desperate and unforgiving circumstances when at their most fragile and raw. A mother learns of the sudden death of her husband and must juggle grieving, single motherhood, poverty and her sister's extended visit; a drunken Friday night prank by teenagers ends in the involuntary manslaughter of a gas station attendant; a father attends a bizarre ritualistic memorial service for his manic-depressive son who commit suicide at a music festival; an honourably discharged military officer with PTSD tries to re-adapt to civilian life while living next to his hipster anti-war neighbours; a landscaper tries to resolve her boss's internet connection problems while he fights with her junkie co-worker; two band members skirt the topic of alcoholism, miscarriage, and a complicated relationship history while on tour; a young woman attends a raging warehouse party in an attempt to get her ex-boyfriend back.
