When Gaiwan left the ship, Near thought he chose the better life. Then she, and the crew, find he is on trial for treason in the Alliance capital of Parmlir. They make the only possible decision: Go after him. The Alliance is no friend to Angelius and Parmlir is the heart of the Alliance.
