Riya's Foundling

In a strange future where an intelligent cow-like species roams the mountains and farms, a young boy named Phildee discovers that his mind can bend reality itself. What begins in the feed-house loft as a child's private battlefield becomes a startling encounter between radically different forms of intelligence, where abstract logic, instinct, and telepathy collide. Riya, an aging female driven by loneliness, shame, and the hope of bearing one last calf, climbs into the spring hills searching for a mate. Her world is shaped by seasonal migration, harsh social judgment, and the fierce urgency of motherhood. When she meets the small, uncanny stranger on the path, she reaches toward him with a maternal mental touch, assuming he is a calf in need of care. Phildee, unable to fit her into his own equations and memories, struggles to understand what she is. As her gentle presence breaks through his defenses, the story becomes a haunting first contact tale about empathy, parenthood, and the unsettling beauty of minds unlike our own.
