Saving Lives, Saving Honor: The 39th Evacuation Hospital During World War II

A complete day-by-day history of the 39th Evacuation Hospital during World War II, much of which has only recently been declassified by the United States Department of Defense and Department of the Army. After training at Camp Atterbury, IN, the unit moved to Europe and participated in the greatest military conflict in global history, World War II. Following D-Day, the hospital moved along with General George S. Patton and the U.S. 3rd Army as it pushed towards Germany. It was honored with the Meritorious Unit Award for its service during the Battle of the Bulge.
