Ignoring chronological denouement, the Cortland, NY native takes the reader on a hopscotch journey through his life. One minute you’re with him at 4 years old in kindergarten in 1936, dealing with a frustrated little nun. A few pages later, you’re with him on a hair-raising patrol in North Korea in 1953.
