Ivan Bunin (1870–1953) was a Russian author and poet, often regarded as one of the greatest Russian writers of the 20th century. Known for his exquisite prose and poetic sensitivity, Bunin's works frequently explore themes of love, loss, the passing of time, and the complexities of the human condition. His short fiction is marked by psychological depth, detailed naturalism, and vivid descriptions of Russian life and landscapes. Bunin's writing is often characterized by a melancholy tone, especially as he faced the upheavals of the Russian Revolution and the subsequent emigration.
