At the time Edward IV was warring with James III and the island of Rhodes was at its peak under the guidance of the Knight of the Order of Saint John, Oswald de Montaigne held the position of Constable of the tower of St. Nicholas.

Since his birth he witnessed brutality and grew on the battle field. In peace he was reckless and extravagant at war he was cruel and ruthless, yet he found himself able to love.
