The remains of a naked youth are found buried under the sands of a quiet Kentish beach. The body of a socially awkward teenager is discovered slumped in a London park after an apparent drug overdose. The two couldn’t possibly be linked, could they?

There’s only one mind capable of cracking the case – in her view at least: DI Carrie McElhenry.

The pile of bodies is mounting, the Press are going frantic, and McElhenry’s boss is starting to think she’s not up to the challenge. Although her patience and personal resources are stretched by her so-called colleagues and her own ambitions, McElhenry knows these are cases she cannot afford to lose sight of.
