The Ivory Gate

A rich, dry old solicitor leads, without knowing it, a second life as Edmund Gray, a genial preacher of a new social order, and neither of his selves remembers the other. Besant asks which of the two men was the better one and does not entirely answer. This edition carries fifty-seven plates of painting bound with the text, among them works by William Logsdail, Robert Jobling, George Reid and Edith Hipkins, dating from 1746 to 1920.
