APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Todd Hewitt lives in Prentisstown, a place where men’s choppy, inconsequential and violent thoughts create an unceasing Noise in the air and all the women have perished. This first book in the dystopian Chaos Walking series introduces the troubling legacy of New World—a planet of untamed natural beauty and astounding manmade horrors. The story thrusts its two young protagonists, Todd and Viola, into a desperate struggle to evade an army hell-bent on stripping them of their humanity. Transcending the genres of teen and science fiction, The Knife of Never Letting Go is a hauntingly well-written, nail-biting novel about a boy forced to question everything he’s been taught and find his own true north.
Customer Reviews
Brilliant, well worth the read
The Knife of Never Letting Go is a well written book, it grips you to keep reading on and you simple can't put it down.
It is set at first in a small town called Prentisstown (where only men live and everyone can hear each other's thoughts) which is on 'New World' (a planet where humans emigrated to from their previous planet), where a boy who is about to become a man, called Todd Hewitt, is forced to leave and enter into an alien world with his dog Manchee, a rucksack and a precious book.
As the story unfolds, we learn, as well as Todd, more and more about the untold past. He meets a girl, who doesn't talk, they journey out into the unknown together.
I think it is well worth the read, great if you love trilogies.
