The Life and Legacy of Pastor Superintendent Douglas R. Hargrave

On May 5, 2016, author Lorine Hargrave experienced one of the most difficult days of her life, as her husband transitioned to heaven three days shy of their sixty-second wedding anniversary. Devastated and searching for answers, Lorine never imagined that God would transform this tragic event into the opportunity to become a beacon of light to those around her.


As time passed, God began to replace Lorine’s anger, depression, and confusion with peace, purpose, and a new understanding of His love. One night in a dream, God told her, “Write the book. It will be for your healing from grief.” So with obedience in her heart and pen in hand, Lorine started a journey of restoration and freedom while sharing the joy and influence of her husband. 


The Life and Legacy of Pastor Superintendent Douglas Ray Hargrave is Lorine’s way of honoring her husband’s memory, as much as it is her own path to healing. In this moving work filled with life-changing testimony, powerful moments, and timeless truths, Lorine remembers the impact and encouragement her husband passed on to others, while offering hope to those who have lost loved ones in their own lives.


Although Lorine dearly misses her wonderful, loving husband, she has chosen to go on with her life, watching God use her story to help others along the way. She continues to keep the doors of her church, Greater Cornerstone Church of God in Christ, open as God allows the legacy of Superintendent Douglas Ray Hargrave to inspire all who enter.
