APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
If you liked Jojo Moyes’ Me Before You, you’ll love The Light We Lost. Centred around NYC college students Lucy and Gabe—who bond after meeting on 9/11 and then drift apart—Jill Santopolo’s debut is about the enduring power of first love. Told in a confessional diary style from Lucy’s point of view, the novel explores chance, choice, fate and regret with sophisticated surety. Santopolo’s characters are layered and flawed, with well-placed breadcrumbs guiding you through their stories.
