Publisher Description
The Traitor Queen is the triumphant conclusion to the No. 1 Sunday Times bestselling Traitor Spy trilogy from fantasy phenomenon Trudi Canavan, which began with The Ambassador's Mission and continued with The Rogue.
Events are building to a climax in Sachaka as Lorkin returns from his exile with the Traitor rebels.
The Traitor Queen has given Lorkin the huge task of brokering an alliance between his people and the Traitors. Lorkin has also had to become a feared black magician in order to harness the power of an entirely new kind of gemstone magic. This knowledge could transform the Guild of Magicians - or make Lorkin an outcast forever.
Set in the same world as her global bestselling Black Magician Trilogy, Trudi Canavan's Traitor Spy Trilogy is a gripping fantasy adventure filled with danger and forbidden magic.

a big let down
Trudi Canavans first two triliogys were very enjoyable and would draw you into world of imagination but this latest trilogy was extremely predictable, boring and pointless there was no depth or real story quite disappointing.
Just okay
This final instalment in the traitor spy trilogy is just ok. Overall the series isn't as good as the Black Magician Trilogy.
This book doesn't really have the tension/suspense that was palpable in The High Lord. Canavan runs 2 main storylines simultaneously and there is no real link between the two so it makes the whole book feel like it should be two separate books. Also the final resolution of each storyline was incredibly boring and predictable.
MINOR SPOILER FOLLOWS
A character dies in the book, but to be honest, I didn't care. It wasn't surprising and it lacked any amount of suspense. Also a magical war is decided within the space of a chapter. This should've been a fantastic moment in the book with twists and turns and surprises....instead it was boring and predictable and FAR too easy.
END SPOILER
The only reason I read the trilogy was because I wanted further insight into Sonea, who is the main character of Kyralia (despite Canavan's attempt to make Lorkin the main protagonist), and I wanted to see how her life had progressed in the aftermath of Akkarin's death. However Sonea's storyline in this trilogy was very minor and unfortunately in this book it was pushed completely into the background.
As I write this review I've revised my opinion from 3 stars to 2 stars. Not good.
