The use of English for a historical purpose was much more modern and was jarring to see some words used to describe things. Then what he’ll is that MC problem, he likes that she is a “shrew” but belittles her at any given time. I get it was in the 1800s but I don’t think talking to your wife like a child is going to charm her to you.
