Understanding Basic Accounting Concepts

The world of accounting is a dark and mysterious place for many. While it can be technical and require special training and expertise, it does not need to be a complete mystery. This eBook will expand on a basic understanding of financial statements and their components, and delve deeper into areas Non-Financial Managers should understand to feel confident in making the right decisions for their company. I will discuss inventory basics; capital assets and amortization; overheads, allocations and provisions; prepaid expenses and accruals. The discussion will not be technical in nature but it is based on an assumption that you have a basic understanding of financial components like assets, liabilities, equity, revenue and expenses.
