Web Information Architecture
Publisher Description
Seeking information on the web is a frequent, necessary and ever-increasing activity in our daily lives and the design of optimal information spaces is essential to provide real access to information.
Information Architecture (IA) for the web has traditionally had a focus on websites that are bounded and representative of an organisation or individual. This unit introduces students to IA processes and outcomes that include user research, navigation, search, taxonomies and labeling systems for websites. It also introduces students to a web of information that is increasingly fluid, unbounded and non-hierarchical, accessed by a variety of channels and devices. The unit emphasises the goal of facilitating intuitive access to information and task completion by web users.
