WWI Poetry

In this book we demonstrate a GCSE level lesson on the poem ‘Dulce et Decorum est’ by Wilfred Owen. The pupils complete extended work on the poem and perform a dramatic reading.


The lesson in this book was aimed at GCSE level students but could be modified to make it appropriate for various ages and abilities. You could do this either by increasing the level of support for the pupils or by changing the poem.
