Space rockers Hawkwind have such a complicated history, there’s very little written on them. Ergo, Martin valiantly tries to add to the scholarship, talking at length with the lone member of the band who has been there from the start in 1969, Dave Brock, guitars and vocals. The two keep tight focus however, dealing with the band’s landmark 1975 album in detail, track by track, but also looking at the all-important live show and—at the end of the delightful sit-down and a cup of tea—its disorienting effect on those loony enough to take the trip.
