Molto complesso e emozionante (tranne un difetto)
Come il libro 1, è molto facile immedesimarsi da subito nei personaggi, che sono ammirevoli e coraggiosi, ma al contempo rimangono sempre realistici e credibili.
C'è una forte critica agli adulti, ed esaltazione della forza e furbizia dei giovani, più il potere riscoperto che ne deriva.
Per ora nella storia, sono un po' traumatizzata dal fatto che con l'arrivo del nuovo protagonista Will, Lyra sia diventata pericolosamente simile ad un personaggio lamentoso e helpless, che senza Will non saprebbe neanche dove girarsi, e che non ha nessuna utilità attiva nella storia. Anzi, fa danni. Nel migliore dei casi, assiste Will, senza avere successo nell'essere utile. Spero vivamente che questo lato negativo migliori durante il corso di questo libro.
Nonostante questo difetto, che secondo me molto grosso, rimane il fatto che ci siano pochi libri belli come questo. Si contano sulle dita di una mano! Post-coltello.
