यह कहानियाँ एसोप फेबल्स में से लई गई है । एसोप फेबल्स या एसोपपिका प्राचीन ग्रीक कथाकार एसोप द्वारा  लिखीं गई है और उसी के नाम से जानी जाती है । यह कहानियाँ प्राचीन समय से ही काफी लोकप्रिय है । इस में लिखित कहानियो के साथ - साथ और उनको बोल कर सुनाया भी गया है ।

The stories in this book are taken from Aesop's fables. Aesop's fables or the Aesopica is a collection of fables credited to Aesop, an Ancient Greek fabulist and story teller believed to have lived in ancient Greece between 620 and 564 BCE. Of diverse origins, the stories associated with his name have descended to modern times through a number of sources and continue to be reinterpreted in different verbal registers and in popular as well as artistic media.
