Descrizione dell’editore

This book is designed for students studying Psychology at KS5. It is supported with videos and interactive elements to complete. Accessible scrolling view supported.

Psychology is the science of human behaviour and, as such, it draws upon scientific methods to collect the empirical evidence upon which it is built. In order to be able to effectively evaluate the strength of psychological theories, it is vital that students have a solid grounding in the nature, flaws and strengths of the different research methods. Without this, there is no way to judge the accuracy of the studies on which a theory is based.

Even more importantly, however, is the fact that, without a grounding in research methods, students are not able to carry out investigations of their own into why humans act as they do!

In this book, you will find the material you need to master has been split into 4 sections:

- The key features of science: a general overview of the important ideas within science that distinguish it from other areas of study

- Research methods and techniques: focusing on the different ways in which psychologists collect empirical evidence

- Scientific processes: looking at the fine detail necessary to ensure the features common to all research methods are used appropriately in your studies

- Data handling and analysis: dealing with the different types of data you might collect from an investigation, and how to use descriptive and inferential testing to draw meaningful conclusions about the data
