Edith Lloyd is a young woman living in Louisiana with her sister and her sister's husband. When she finds herself caught in a jealousy feud and is falsely accused by her own family, the town's roaring gossip forces her to reply to a mail-order bride ad and leave the state.

Jessie Quinn is a celebrated ranger in a small town in Nevada who takes care of his sister and his difficult uncle; he is also a man who has had no luck finding a good bride for himself. 

When Edith arrives in Nevada, as Jessie's rival mail-order bride, and takes up a job as Jessie's uncle caretaker, she sets in motion a series of events that will test all their life choices. Is the man Edith is supposed to marry really the man he claims to be? 

But now the question burning in Edith's mind is, did she make the right choice choosing him over Jessie?
