Iván is a shameless rascal, and Max, a nerd raised with conservative values. Their friendship solidifies amid the intrigues, dangers, discrimination, injustices, poverty, and crime that define a neighborhood in Santo Domingo, where ordinary people with extraordinary gifts survive with cunning and ingenuity.

They grow up amid ideological and practical confrontations, discovering the influence of sexuality, economic power, politics, and the dreams of emigrating to live the "American dream," in a working-class society marked by social class differences.

Iván and Max are joined by captivating characters who hope to find success through work, luck, magic, or promises—sometimes risking their own lives. They all face authoritarianism, poverty, orphanhood, unemployment, and the lack of powerful patrons, while discovering the importance of love and loyalty.

Set in the 1970s and 1980s, A Numbered Street reveals untold details about the history of the Dominican Republic, in an environment of conflicts that shaped an entire generation.
