A Walk In the Sun

This story is a journal of a young man who joins the Federation military in 27th century. It takes his life from his 18th birthday to he is 28 years old.


He was born in the Mining Guild housing and he had never set foot on a planet. The military gave him this chance. All he had to do was prove that he was able to do what was necessary to survive.





8 Sept 2601 Federation Standard.





Dad says that we will soon have to move again. That most of the usable material has already been mined out of this area. Mom says that the mining guild is starting to squeeze more and more hours out of her and are lying off more of the older workers.


I do not know what I am going to do yet. I have spent most of the last three months looking for any type of work. So far, all I have found are long lines and no prospects. I have heard that a recruiting ship is due here in the next month. I think I will see what they have to offer. Maybe I can find a planet where I can walk in the sun and not have to live in a can.
