It is November. When Meg comes home from school, Charles Wallace tells her he saw dragons in the twin’s vegetable garden. That night Meg, Calvin and C.W. go to the vegetable garden to meet the Teacher (Blajeny) who explains that what they are seeing isn’t a dragon at all, but a cherubim named Proginoskes. It turns out that C.W. is ill and that Blajeny and Proginoskes are there to make him well – by making him well, they will keep the balance of the universe in check and save it from the evil Echthros.
Meg, Calvin and Mr. Jenkins (grade school principal) must travel inside C.W. to have this battle and save Charles’ life as well as the balance of the universe.

A 10 Star Book!!!
Madeleine L’Engle’s 2nd book in the sequel, “A Wind in the Door”, is about the same family of Charles Wallace and their new adventures. Charles Wallace is having trouble in school because he is too advanced for his grade. He also has a medical condition which is dangerous for his health. In order to help him, Meg, Calvin, Mr.Jenkins and Proginoskes, the cherubim, have to complete 3 very challenging tasks.
I liked the book very much because it was interesting, engaging and educational. In the beginning, the story was a little confusing as I didn’t know what ‘mitochondria’, ‘farandolae’ and ‘kything’ were, but I learned about them as I read. The ending was unpredictable and the author kept me excited all the way to the end.
In the middle of the book, the events became so intense, I didn’t want to stop reading and I literally couldn’t put the book down until it was finished.
I would recommend this book to the kids aged 10+ because younger readers might not understand some of the science terminology and concepts.
I gave this book 5 stars because it was such a breathtaking and engaging story.
