I’m nine months pregnant when I decide to walk four days to escape my captor and save my baby. The only place I know to go is home, and what I encounter there might be worse than what I’ve run from. But it turns out, my childhood home is empty, and I’m rescued by a man I haven’t seen in over a decade, a man who brings me to his cabin and claims me and my baby as his own.

I know in my heart that marrying her is the right thing to do. It’s the only thing to do. But she has demons, both real and imaginary, and chasing them away may be the most challenging thing we ever do.
