The carnival of Venice is the most complex and mystical of the world’s three major carnivals, the other two being Brazil’s Carnival and the Carnival in Nice. One thing that differentiates the Venetian version from the other festivals is that the Venetians wear masks no matter what one’s status may be, and everyone enjoys the joyful festival together. 


The opening parade with its crowd of people and music and the historic “Angel’s Flight” both mark the beginning of the Carnival of Venice.
