A whirlwind romance intertwined with mystery created by the popular Hindi novelist Devaki Nandan Khatri during late 1800s. Chandrakanta, the lead character of this story, is a princess of a small state in India and she is in love with the prince of neighboring rival state. The two face many obstacles and work to make their love prevail over all else. The princess ends up in a "Tilism", an enchanted palace with no escape. To free the princess, the prince methodically unfolds secrets of the Tilism to find her. To counteract miscreants, prince uses his intellect  and physical prowess. He is also helped by his friends, who are his "Aiyars". These "Aiyars" use their disguising skills and special talents to trick bad people into submission. Intrigue and treachery weave through this passionate modern epic.
