Descrizione dell’editore

Patients with reduced renal function are at risk of developing contrast-induced nephrotoxicity (CIN) following a contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) examination with an iodinated contrast agent (1) and at risk of developing nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF) after a contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination with an extracellular gadolinium-based contrast agent. (2) This article will present an overview of these 2 adverse effects as well as approaches to avoid these complications. The choice between contrast-enhanced CT or MRI in this group of patients will be discussed. Contrast-induced nephrotoxicity
