Clarification on some Hanafi Rulings

All praise be to Allaah alone. Salutations and peace be on him after whom there will be no Nabī.

The differences amongst the Aimmah on furū‘ [subsidiaries], whilst agreeing on aṣl [principle] is neither harmful nor trouble. It in fact provides scope, leniency and mercy to the rest. Our guides are the Ṣaḥābah (R.A) of Rasulullaah (S.A.W). If they came across a situation without clear text in the Qurāan and Sunnah, they would form opinions based on Ijtihād. Their Ijtihād differed since their knowledge and views on the common good differed.

This pattern continued with the Aimmah after them. They attempted to make the differences amongst the ‘Ulamā’ in regards rulings, a mercy for the Ummah and a way for implementing the Deen according to the texts of Quraān and Sunnah. At the same time they avoided divisiveness which had destroyed the previous nations in regards both religion and world.
